OUR Mission
Impact investing provides an extremely promising mechanism that merges private equity with sustainable development to incentivize investments that realize above-market financial returns while ameliorating pressing social and/or environmental issues.
Impact Investing at Cornell's mission is to provide a platform for undergraduate students to gain tangible experiences and insight into the impact investing field from the private equity scope. Through our Associate Development Program (ADP), events, and consulting project partnerships with established impact funds, our associates gain unparalleled professional development and industry exposure. We aim to strengthen the platform of impact investing across Cornell by providing our team with access to exclusive opportunities to explore one of the fastest-growing fields in finance.
Associate Development Program
Impact Investing at Cornell provides training in areas of financial analysis and market due diligence for our associates through a rigorous eight-week Associate Development Program. The program is exclusive to recruited associates, and teaches the fundamentals of corporate finance, business development, impact investing, global markets, and much more.
With hour-long lectures, Harvard Business Review cases, and weekend workshops that develop associates' transferable skill sets and expertise, associates will be able to construct comprehensive investment proposal decks, value projects and companies, and present their ideas in a coherent and client-facing manner. The ADP will culminate in a group case presentation, wherein associates will work with assigned teammates to aggregate and apply the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout the program. Associates' performance throughout the ADP and the final group case presentation will be assessed as one component of their applications to become Project Managers.
Impact Investing Competition
IIC is the proud host of Cornell’s first undergraduate impact investing competition. The Cornell Impact Investing Competition is a university-wide online pitch competition in which teams identify, research, and recommend an existing early-stage company that addresses a social or environmental problem for a hypothetical investment.
